Is this really a surprise? I don't like to comment on celebrity gossip and the ilk, but was I the only one looking at Al and wondering when he was going to jump out of the closet?
Seriously. Look at him, this man was straight up gay:

He is wearing extensions in his hair. What man do you know who does this? Seriously aside from drag queens and transexuals?
Star Jones files for divorce from Al Reynolds
Three years after tying the knot in a spectacular, over-the-top affair that caused some backlash, Star Jones has decided to end her marriage to banker Al Reynolds.
The 46-year-old TV personality quietly filed divorce papers March 26 in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan. The records are sealed, syndicated entertainment show "Entertainment Tonight" reported Wednesday.
But a representative for SHADOW PR, which represents Jones, confirmed to The Associated Press that she is seeking to end the union.
In a statement to "Entertainment Tonight," Jones said: "Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce.
"The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."
It's not the approach Jones took when she threw her uber-lavish, Park Avenue wedding to Reynolds in November 2004. She received criticism for endlessly discussing the wedding — and plugging its sponsors — as a co-host on ABC's "The View." The negative reaction to the affair, which was attended by guests ranging from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to Spike Lee, was cited by Barbara Walters as a reason why Jones' contract wasn't renewed by ABC's "The View" in 2006.
The former prosecutor recently hosted a talk show on truTV.

Star Jones lost her gd mind when she fell for this guy. That wedding nonsense was just off the chain. She turned into the greatest Bridezilla the world has ever known. It's enough to make an atheist believe in spells, because I can't wrap my head around what he must have been putting in her zero calorie iced teas!
I just hope that she gets some of her career back, and finds a good man at some point.
That guy is gay as the day is long.
She seems a nice woman, like h sofia said, I hope that she can get her life in order and find a good man!
I was so tempted to make a post on Star but realized that its going to be all over the place anyway.
I didn't realize that her wedding saga contributed to the loss of her job on the view which was a pitty because the View has never been the same. But then again I am not surprised.
Star Jones had the classic, "I have a man" Syndrome.
This is too often displayed by black women that find a mate and start crowing about it like finally they have become somebody and therefore have acquired a certain status that society MUST respect.
This attituded stinks to high heaven and it makes one loose credibility and respect among those around them. The moment this attitude shows in a woman as it did with Star Jones, make your bates on a pending divorce.
It reveals some one that is very immature and highly loaded with issues. Therefore it shouldn't be a surprise that she lost her job there after.
Big Gay Al's closet is just bursting at the seams ; )
No No say it ain't so
NO HE DIDN'T with the braid ponytail. Real talk, his braids were flyer than any of mine ever were.
Nope it aint no suprise. I always did think he was gay and was waiting for the divorce. He's so gay it aint funny.
My thing is, as a mediawhore, even if your man just seems gay to OTHER PEOPLE wouldn't that alone give you pause? Her wedding was splashed all over magazine at her encouragement so now here we are as she asks for privacy in the imminent divorce...
ps- I keep some timeline photos of her on my fridge to keep from pigging out or being too vain about any weight loss. It works, too!
It cracks me up how all these celebs would invite the tabloids inot thier home and then turn round to ask for privacy. Spalshing your wedding on the front pages of the rag mags and now it didn't wotk out you want some friggin' privacy?
It's like all these hollyweird celebs that pose in mags pimpin' their newborn babies to the world, then start to complain about media intrusion into their lives. I'm like get the f**k outta here!
Stevie Wonder saw this mess coming.
But the braids....my God, the braids!
All togther now:
*finger snaps*
HATED IT!
I want to be surprised, I really do, but I just can't. I think most people have given Big Gay Al the fish eye ever since he rocked the extension twists, but I could be wrong.
I bet when he poots it smells like pink Skittles.
SMH
My $0.02...Meh...yeah, my gaydar went off immediately when I saw him, but I still wish her well...
And, just for the record....homophobic and snide remarks about someone's supposed sexual proclivities make it hard for people to come out in the first place...especially in the Black Community...and THAT'S exactly why you wind up with situations like the one we have here....
IMHO....
I think the thing with Star Jones, is that she kind of set her self up for failure, she made the relationship uber public, and he looked like he loved being a media whore, I remember when they first got engaged, gay men came out of the woodwork talking about him, and she played it off.
In terms of black people coming out, hell if I were to believe J.L. King , E. Lynn Harris and the rest of media, most black men are on the DL, so they should all be eager to jump out of the closet and it should be widely accepted since so many are doing it.
I read one E. Lynn Harris book, and everyone damn man in it was down low, I was looking at my daddy and husband weird for months after that.
Diosanegra - I'm with you about the remarks about his sexuality. Yes, the man seems a bit sweet to me, but I don't have any evidence. And heaven knows I've been wrong before. For me, the strange thing was how twisted Star became - she became afflicted with, as Grata said, the "I have a man" syndrome. It's always fascinating in an appalling sort of way to watch a celebrity self-destruct right before one's very eyes.
"Star Jones had the classic, "I have a man" Syndrome."
Yeah, she sure did, but it was so tragic when you saw him and realized that dude was totally gay. I was like WTF!!! Then she expected Barbara to pay for it. I mean she was right in that because Barbara did say she would on tv, but Barbara ain't stupid, when she saw Al, she knew what was coming and she told Star, HELL NO!!
To be honest, I'm more surprised it lasted this long. Ain't that much wanting a wedding in the world. The wedding day is only a day, after that you still gotta wake up next to that cookie monster. If you're not sure you could wake up next to someone everyday then it ain't worth it.
But I'm glad no children were involved. So many of these damn kids are suffering because of their parents' bout of selfishness, hooking up with people they know full damn well they shouldn't be anywhere near kids, hell they shouldn't be anywhere near puppies (no reference to Al though, just a generalization).
For those who don't already know, it has never been a secret that Al was gay. Their story was that he received "counseling" to make him straight.
And that's where Star Jones looks like a fool. She knew what she wasw entering into. She thought that merely talking to a therapist could change him from gay to straight. It doens't work like that at all.
How can a woman be so desperate for a man that she will lie to herself about a homosexual man's straight conversion?
Well, so far, she's handling it better than Terry McMillan.
If it's true that he received counseling to make him straight (??), what was SJ thinking? I would think being in Hollywood and a member of the so-called "liberal media" would have educated her on this point: there's no such thing.
Now, that is not to say that if a person is bisexual (not gay and having sex with women just to fit in with society), they cannot be faithful to their partner - I know lots of bisexual folks who are married or otherwise in committed partnerships.
But seriously, was this really the only available man SJ could find? Eek!
My heart goes out to Star Jones.: ( If she knew Al was gay why would she think counseling could change him? There are plenty of women who marry men with a lot less serious issues and their marriages don't work out either. I only hope she's a little more careful in the future when selecting her next husband.
But seriously, was this really the only available man SJ could find? Eek!

My thoughts exactly!
