So I've been questioning my blackness. To reaffirm myself, I offer you this:
I am so lying, please don't take that video as serious as the people who made it. Thanks Thembi for exposing me to this hot mess. Now me and my husband are walking around saying "posedta".
But I really was listening to this, and I really used to like this video, hoochies and all. I mean seriously there are ninjas, dinosaurs, and a Flintstones thing going on, what's not to like. I had some Wu-Wear. I am not going to lie. I got it at TJ Maxx though, so it was probably out of style when I wore it.
R.I.P. ODB
Please realize this post is tongue and cheek Wu-Tang does not define blackness

I wanna laugh but this is so sad because they are so serious. Detroit needs a new mayor, education system, a new everything, if this is a true representation.
I am not sure how I'm 'podsta' react. SMH
Why? Lawd, why?
I wanna laugh but this is so sad and she is so serious.
I am not sure how I'm 'posdta' feel.

LOL For real. I was dying when I saw this, from beginning to end.
Haha, I live in Detroit and I would say the vast majority of black youth here look, dress, and talk in that manner. At least they are more authentic then the wannabe ghetto Arab kids.
Thank you for the link/sorry you had to see this.
Really, what mess.
Um excuse me...I am currently in search of a WuWear Chocolate Deluxe Baby Tee to wear as a costume change for my 30th birthday in a few months. Shhh...dont tell nobody!
Kwame needs to resign. I don't understand why he doesn't. I'm sure that the Black community in Detroit must be embarrassed by his behavior. The problem that I have is the disdain my husband has for the kids with the saggy pants who speak slang and live that kind of lifestyle. I told him that it would be funny if our sons grew up dressing like that as teenagers or whatever the equivalent would be by the time they reach that age. He replied "Over my dead body." I almost get ashamed when I see a group of kids, both Black and White with their pants down to their knees and speaking what isn't considered proper English. Should we be embarrassed by this display of what so-called "Blackness" really is??
Wu-Tang is for the children!
You are wrong for that first video!
LOL
Are they serious??

I refused to be embarrassed for this fool's behavior. I don't understand why black people have the burden to be shamed if one person messes up. Do white people feel bad for their race when they have Jeffery Dahmer eating people or Bill Clinton messing with Monica Lewinsky?
I have given up caring what white people in general think about blacks, because no matter how many examples or stats prove otherwise, many already have their opinions formed. Some people really think we are all rappers and that BET is a factual representation of black people in America. I say let them keep thinking that during work I am professional, but at home I am dancing on a pole to some Lil' John and drinking Cristal.

No I am not going to be embarrassed by children embracing saggy pants. It is a style that is embraced by youth. It doesn't hurt me in any way. Ihave concerns that they might trip over themselves and have a hard time finding a job, but most kids, if they have decent parents, grow out of their "slang" talk. Does your husband show disdain for kids who are "emo"? Or into "punk" and "skater" type dress? Or is it just the black kids he has a problem with? I personally hope to god my kids show some individuality when they become teens and don't feel the need to obsess over clothing at Abercrombie and Fitch. I have so jinxed myself, I am going to have preppy kids. My father when I was a teen had issues with youth in general. He died when I dyed my hair pink, I caught so much flack for that, and my mother freaked out at my 3rd ear hole. She told me she was fine with how I dressed, but body modification she had issues with. I was cool with that too.

No, the funny thing is, he went through his "Leather-jacket-Black Sabbath--Sid Vicious-Iggy Pop" phase back in the late 70's early 80's where he grew his hair long and all of that. It's a very weird double standard. I wonder if he's been brainwashed by White American Male views on young Black men. OF course we can't have this discussion because the last thing you want to do is accuse your husband of being prejudiced or stereotyping Black people in any way. I've done that and he'd gotten so offended...
Oh Tenacious Bree I forgot all about CB4. That movie cracks me up, and that is my favorite part!!!!!

It seems there is a bit of a double standard. You should ask him how people who weren't in his scene perceived him back in those days every time he gets mad at kids with saggy pants.
