Did you ever know this guy in college? The Ras Deuce
Have you ever met this guy? I admit I once dated a guy like this, except he didn't have locs yet. Thankfully, this is going to sound racist, but I think white people's hair texture keeps them from making nice locs. They have to work really hard to get a lock.
This is the type of guy who is all down for the cause in college, and then he graduates, gets a job, moves to surburbia, and marries the blonde haired, blue eyed trophy wife.

I'm all about natural hair but to me if your hair isn't curly or kinky and you have dreads you are forcing your hair to do something unnatural for it.
A Ras Deuce? Now that is scary! What's next? Black Panther Deuce? Now that's one I'd like to see lol..
I've seen many white guys with these. They aren't "down for the cause" either. Just do their hair like this just because. I've seen Asian men with these also.
Every now and then I'll see one who actually takes care of it and it looks acceptable. I think it's hard as hell to get your head dreaded with out the "kink" factor. It just comes out looking like a dog with the mange or straight up unkept.

I was amazed when I learnt of the Rastafarians reverence for Nyabingi. Nyabingyi was a woman originally from my tribe who fought the Europens. Growing up when we did something wrong they labelled you Nyabingyi. Her legend is now so obscure.
These types of deuces are common in LA. You seriously wonder if they are not biracial, some are so convincing.
I met one at a Halloween party a few weeks ago. This WM had dreads down his back and he told me that it took him 10 years to grow his hair out. He had a tan and I had to blink, but he was White. I asked him why he had them and he said that he was just too lazy to cut his hair, I was hoping for a deeper answer than that, but whatever. He was cute, flirtatious and very drunk. Too bad my husband was a few feet away.
I don't know if I can count these guys as black panther deuces, but Pun Lamondon and http://www.luminist.org/images/john.jpg> John Sinclair were members of the white panther party of the 1960s. They couldn't join the black panther party, so they created it to help the black panther party.

Too funny! There are so many dreaded white guys and girls in Austin now I don't even think twice about it. However, here it's more of a hippy thing than being "totally conscious"....lol

I could not stop laughing while watching that. My first boyfriend was "that guy" and his dorm room looked just like that. Posters, pot and all. Thanks for the memories. I'm going to watch that again now and laugh myself to sleep.

As a certified #1 Bob Marley fan (I named my daughter after the guy for heavens sake) these guys have always given me a kick.
Have any of them actually studied Rastafari? Read the Kebra Nagast?
I have yet gotten a true Rasta to sit and "reason" with me (many have preached to me or simply yelled at me) and most conversations with white dread heads are too "dude" ridden to make sense of.
Here is a real issue I have...caused by Rasta deuce:
white people think dreads are gross and stinky. They think this because for a white person to get dreads they must put gross crap in thier hair and then never wash it.
white people have no experiance with how well kept and groomed locks can be IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT KIND OF HAIR!!!!!
I always want to ask white dudes if they are getting back to thier "natural" roots and rejecting the imperialist Euro beauty standards.
