Interestingly enough, MTV apparently edited the word "shot" from the video, like it was going to offend people or something.
I think this was their only top 100 hit.
Interesting note that my local paper would not call the band by their full name. Instead they would say something like, "B******** Surfers" or simply "the Surfers", or even not mention the name at all, and give a lame explanation about the paper being family oriented.
How could you possibly go wrong with an Eric Estrada cameo? I hated the movie Wayne's WOrld, because the chick's band did "Ballroom Blitz". The Butthole Surfer's do a version of that song at like 500mph and hearing that chick in amovie just butcher that song made me angry.
I mean, how bad do you jave to be to sound worse than Butthole Surfers? Violent Femmes maybe?
It is, they still tour and release stuff, they have been around since the early 1980s. The lead singer's daddy was a local children's television celebrity, Mr. Peppermint. I thought that was the coolest thing of all. Mr. Peppermint is a Dallas institution, and WFAA was a channel you could see all over the state, as many smaller towns didn't have their own ABC affiliate.
