It seemed that in the Australian commercial the guy was supposed to be like Chris Tucker in those movies he did with Jackie Chan: high-pitched voice, loud, rambling on ad nauseum.
The toothpaste commercial was shocking. The gist of the message seemed to be that while BLACK skinned people were terrible and would do you harm, that black toothpaste was actually GOOD for you.
The Korean commercial with its Africans are savages but they love fried chicken stereotype was shocking, too. Not because the stereotype is new, but because it was so overt and base, you'd think it was 1869 in the deep South, not 2009 in Korea.
It just goes to show you that people of African descent are ridiculed worldwide.

My theory is that racial attitudes of the rest of the word are just following in the footsteps of white racism. Its a cycle. Where whites leave, the others arrive. Only a few laws are stopping people from total enslavement of the Africans. And the Arabs are still doing it. In the end, whites maybe the uncomfortable allies of blacks than anyone else.

Honestly, it just shows cultural intolerance to get offended at those kinds of ads. Blacks are still relatively nonexistent in Asia, existing more as a legend than as a stereotype.
Could you imagine an asian person looking at American ads, and seeing them as relatively nonexistent or relegated to stereotypical roles? Like the asian kid in the Nivea commercial saying "This won't increase my ability to mate" or the various TV shows and movies that depict asians only as members of the band or the math team?
We cannot judge asian nations by our norms, and we shouldn't let them judge us by theirs.

I liked none of them, that is one of the reasons why I watch very little television. It is just to mind controlling.
