Jeff Buckley-Everybody Here Wants You/V The TV Show

I decided to start the Friday night party early. I have been in a Jeff Buckley mood, and I just love this song. This video is fairly new, I was surprised to see it as Jeff Buckley hasn't released anything since 1998. He died over ten years ago. The man was genius.

Of course I have to do the most famous Buckley song Hallelujah:

Yes Rufus Wainwright and countless others have done this song. Even Buckley's was a cover. Yes it was in Shrek.

::ATTENTION BREAKING NEWS::

ABC is going to have V the Mini Series. Yes this V:

But it will obviously be updated:

This is very freaky because I just did a post about Jeff on Wed! It was a tie in with American Idol but woah...I met someone who knew him and he was very much loved. Daily Motion has way more video of him from users around the world esp the bulk of his appearances in France where he was wildly popular.

I love "Grace". His last album before he died, I believe. "The Last Goodbye" is one of my favorite songs. "Hallelujah" the live version from his Paris show is a close second. I'm glad that his mother allowed the release of "My Sweetheart the Drunk". He was underrated as a artist and died too soon. He had so much range in his voice.

ActsofFaithBlog,

I don't know why but here in America he is more of a cult figure. Not too many people into him. His stuff is genius.

I nearly died when I heard Hallelujah in Shrek.

Funkystarkitty,

Yeah it is just crazy the way he died. It is sad all around.

I'm surprised they're doing a V remake. I've been hearing rumors about them doing something with the original cast, but from the looks of that clip I guess not.

I kind of hate it when they revamp old shows. What worked with the original V was the 80's campiness---the big hair, spandex, leather---along with cheesy special effects. It looks like the revamp is a more serious, straightly-done version.

hallelujah by leonard cohen is my favorite - especially the one they used in watchmen.

I love love love Jeff Buckley and was suprised to see him mentioned on your blog (I am a regular reader and enjoy your blog very much--thought-provoking, non-sugar-coated and on point!). Sadly, May 29th will be the 12th anniversary of Jeff's disappearance and death. I was 22 back then and deeply heartbroken. IMO, John Mayer (as talented as he is) would not have a career if Jeff Buckley was still around. I listen to a Jeff song almost everyday. A beautiful man, voice and soul. Switching gears, the "V" was my shit when it was on. I am tired of remakes, but if it's done well, it could work. I loved thae original mini-series--I was a kid then and totally freaked when Robin gave birth to the lizard baby!
